ADCP Deployment in Miami with NOAA NOS

I went to Miami to see NOAA's ADCPs in action.

NOAA is using the ADCPs to give information on the current speed and direction to the pilots of these container ships.

The Teledyne Benthos acoustic release was "sprung" and the ADCP in the flotation unit floated to the surface.

After > 1 month on the bottom in the Miami Harbor, the ADCP and flotation had a bit of marine "hair" growing on it. The float was connected to the base of the Trawl Resistant Bottom Mount (TRBM)
Lotsa ADCPs with fresh batteries are loaded into the van to take a trip to the park for a good old compass calibration.

Loading the ADCP in TRBM onto the deck of the boat. NOAA covers the transducer with Desitin to keep the barnacles from growing.

See ya in 45 days.
