I have known Chikara Shimoda now for 5x years and spent many weeks with him helping the Japanese oceanogrphers / engineers plan their deployments and analize their data. Chikara-San had a barbecue this sunday for his co workers and envited me to attend on my "day off." There was a bunch of fish, oysters, shrimp etc and some "beef" for the american....

The barbecue was on the top of a 5x story building at the far north east end of Tokyo Bay in Chiba prefecture. I would post some pictures of the surrounding shoreline, but it was mostly warehouses and apartment buildings...

This is how they smoke fish..... Tthe salmon is "hung" from the grate above the smoldering wood chips. Kinda cool. If you want one, please tell me before I leave next Thursday and I will pick one up for you.

It is nice to see Chikara-San's two daughters Lena (7) and Mew (5.5) again... We chucked the frizby some and only threw it over the fence down to the street below once.

Kato-San is one of Chikaras co workers and very fast driver. He has a analog TV in his Car which is illigal to watch while you are driving. We saw the news reports about the North Korean missle launch from his Minni Cooper while driving to the barbecue.

Nice way to spend your "day off". I'm sure that you loved all the food.
Please, watch out for television watching drivers...imagine that being against the law !!!
